Volney B. Cushing |
Volney Byron Cushing was born in Winterport, Me., Jan. 31, 1856. He was educated in the common schools of Bangor, Me., in which city he subsequently learned the hatter's trade, working in that place and in Boston. Removing to Iowa in 1878, he studied theology and preached in the Unitarian fellowship, lecturing on general topics in several Western States. Returning to Maine in 1885, he withdrew from the ministry and has since given his entire time to the temperance reform, lecturing in the United States and Canada. -- An Album of Representative Prohibitionists (1895) [BACK] |
