John Henry Hoeppel

John Hoeppel was born near Tell City, Indiana in February, 1881,  He died in Arcadia, California on 21 September 1976.
     Hoeppel had little formal schooling.  He made a career as an enlisted man in the Army, retiring in 1921.  Afterward, he was a postmaster, and he edited National Defense magazine.
     In 1932, Hoeppel was elected to Congress as a Democrat but served only two terms, failing to be re-nominated in 1936.  After the war, he made an unsuccessful try for a third term in Congress on the Prohibition ticket.
