James Joshua Blaisdell

Prof. James Blaisdell, aged 69, for nearly forty years a prominent member of the faculty of Beloit College, died suddenly Saturday at a sanitarium in Kenosha. He was found lying in a grove near the sanitarium, with his throat cut, and undoubtedly died by his own hand. Overwork had driven him crazy. Prof. Blaisdell was born in New Hampshire, graduated at Dartmouth, studied law and then theology. He was chaplain of the Fortieth Wisconsin Regiment in the latter part of the War. He was the president of the Wisconsin Home Missionary society and president the Wisconsin Children's Home Society.
