Jacob Fulton

Jacob Fulton (1 June 1828-11 January 1889) was reared on a farm, and when young, learned the trade of carpenter and builder. He subsequently removed with his family to Harrison county, Iowa, locating on a farm in Magnolia. During the Civil war, he served as second lieutenant of Company A, Twenty-ninth Iowa Volunteer Infantry, being in the Department of the Tennessee. Enlisted Aug. 11, 1862, as Third Sergeant. Mustered Nov. 7, 1862 Promoted First Sergeant Feb. 28, 1863; Second Lieutenant May 26, 1863. Resigned April 10, 1864. Removing to Pawnee City, Nebraska, in 1870, he was successfully engaged in mercantile pursuits until his death. He married to Eliza McAllister, who was born in Pennsylvania of Scotch-Irish ancestry, and was left an orphan in early childhood. She survived her husband, and still resides in Pawnee City, Nebraska. Of the eight children that blessed their union, one daughter and five sons grew to years of maturity.
