Eben Dohoney was born in Kentucky in 1852; he died in 1919, probably in Texas.
Dohoney was a lawyer. He fought valorously on the Confederate side during the Civil War. Later, he served two terms in the Texas legislature. He participated in drafting the Texas state constitution, at which time he supported woman suffrage and local option.
In 1882, Dohoney switched his political allegiance to the Prohibition Party and in 1886 ran for governor on the Prohibition Ticket.
Later in life, Dohony became active in the Populist Party.
